History & Legacy

McKale Center opened in 1973 and was named for J.F. McKale, Arizona's legendary coach and athletics director. Lute Olson's tenure brought the 1997 national championship and sustained Final Four runs. Sean Miller and Tommy Lloyd have continued the tradition. The venue has hosted countless NCAA Tournament games and Pac-12 battles. McKale Center is a college basketball cathedral.
