Amalie Arena

Amalie Arena sits on the downtown Tampa waterfront and is the home of the Lightning, famed for its Tesla-coil lightning displays that crackle overhead during pregame introductions and after every goal. The arena's Channelside location puts it steps from the water and the surrounding entertainment district, giving game nights a distinct waterfront energy. Blue-and-white banners and championship memorabilia line the concourses, a reminder of the franchise's recent dynasty years. It's built a reputation as one of the toughest, loudest buildings for visiting teams to play in during the playoffs.

Opened in October 1996, the arena has been the site of three Lightning Stanley Cup championships -- 2004, 2020, and 2021 -- though the 2020 Cup was actually clinched in the NHL's Edmonton bubble during the COVID-19 pandemic, with Tampa fans celebrating outside the arena instead. The Lightning did host and win games of the 2021 Stanley Cup Final on home ice, defeating the Montreal Canadiens to repeat as champions. The building has carried several corporate names over the years before settling on Amalie Arena in 2014. Its Tesla-coil lightning shows and back-to-back title runs have made it a fixture of Tampa's sports identity.
