Gateway Center

Gateway Center in College Park, Maryland, is better known as Xfinity Center, the home court for Maryland Terrapins basketball and the WNBA's Atlanta Dream during their temporary relocation. The arena sits on the University of Maryland campus and carries the energy of one of the ACC's most historically relevant programs. Terps game nights bring a raucous student section, red-and-black color waves, and the kind of East Coast hoops intensity that defines Big Ten basketball. When the Dream played here, it added WNBA playoff atmosphere to an already electric building.

Xfinity Center opened in 2002, replacing Cole Field House as Maryland's primary basketball home and immediately becoming one of the toughest venues in college hoops. It has hosted NCAA tournament games, Big Ten matchups, and the Dream's 2021-2023 residency while Atlanta's Gateway Center Arena was under construction. The building's design keeps fans close to the court, amplifying crowd noise for rivalry games against Duke, Michigan State, and other blue bloods. Comcast's Xfinity branding has been the public-facing name, though the Gateway Center label persists in some databases.
