PHX Arena — formerly Footprint Center — in downtown Phoenix is the home of the NBA's Suns and the WNBA's Mercury, a renovated arena in the heart of the Valley's sports and entertainment district. The building's recent upgrades modernized the fan experience while keeping the intimate lower bowl that makes Phoenix one of the tougher environments in the Western Conference. Desert heat outside, loud basketball inside.
Opened in 1992 as America West Arena, the building has carried names including US Airways Center and Talking Stick Resort Arena before becoming Footprint Center and now PHX Arena. It hosted the 1995 NBA All-Star Game and the Mercury's three WNBA championships (2007, 2009, 2014). The Suns' 2021 Finals run brought renewed energy to the building.
