Overview
KeyBank Center is the home of the Buffalo Sabres and the premier entertainment venue in Western New York. Located in downtown Buffalo, the arena brings NHL hockey to passionate Sabres fans with excellent sightlines and a vibrant atmosphere. The facility also hosts major concerts, college basketball, and other events. Its central location makes it a hub for the Buffalo community.
History & Legacy
KeyBank Center opened on September 21, 1996, as Marine Midland Arena, with the Sabres playing their first game on October 12, 1996. The arena has gone through several naming rights changes: Marine Midland Arena (1996-2000), HSBC Arena (2000-2011), First Niagara Center (2011-2016), and KeyBank Center since 2017. It replaced the aging Memorial Auditorium and became the largest arena in Western New York. The venue has hosted NCAA Tournament games, including the First Round and Regional rounds.
