BC Place Stadium

BC Place in downtown Vancouver is a retractable-roof landmark on the city's waterfront, home to the Vancouver Whitecaps and the BC Lions and a fixture of major events on Canada's west coast. Since its post-Olympics renovation swapped the original air-supported dome for a cable-supported retractable roof, it has become one of the more architecturally distinctive stadiums in North America, its illuminated exterior a nightly presence on the Vancouver skyline. Inside, a fully enclosed bowl keeps the West Coast rain out and the crowd noise in, giving it a genuinely electric atmosphere for both soccer and football.

Opened in 1983 as the world's largest air-supported dome at the time, it served as the centerpiece of the 2010 Winter Olympics opening and closing ceremonies. It underwent a major 16-month renovation after the Games, replacing the inflatable roof, and went on to host the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup Final, where the USA defeated Japan 5–2 behind Carli Lloyd's hat trick. It returns to the global stage with a slate of 2026 World Cup matches, adding another chapter to a venue already twice host to the world's game.
